Is US letter size the same as A4?

What’s the difference? A4 paper size vs Letter. The difference is minimal, but important: A4 is a little taller, while Letter is a little wider. Those of you from North America will be familiar with an entirely different set of paper formats to the rest of the world.

Simply so, can you print A4 in the USA?

A4 is available in the US. Most of the world uses A4 as their standard paper while the US and Canada uses standard letter size. I believe the prime reason is that while we use the inch scale, the rest of the world uses the metric system.

Herein, why doesn’t the US use A4 paper? Standard A4-sized paper is practically unobtainable in the USA, and therefore nobody in the USA uses A4 and few of us even understand what A4 is. A4 is 210 mm x 297 mm. “US Letter” is 8.5 x 11.0 imperial inches, or 216 x 279 mm. This is an entirely different aspect ratio; our paper is shorter and wider than A4.
